The iDC's City Courses are unparalleled learning experiences that have been praised by smart travelers and widely celebrated by the press.

City Courses provide the exclusive opportunity to explore Rome's amazing art and architecture, its vast history, and its rich culture in the company of your own personal professor.

What’s Unique About City Courses?

City Courses are private learning experiences that are scheduled on request.  You’ll never be grouped together with other travelers so you’ll have the maximum opportunity to ask questions, to linger in front of stunning paintings or amazing buildings, and to share your discoveries with friends and family.

City Courses take you to museums, churches, open-air markets, and archaeological sites that are difficult to negotiate on your own.  You make these visits in the company of our engaging City Scholars - personal professors who encourage you to look carefully, to ask questions, and to discuss the big ideas.

City Courses focus on big IDEAS, important EVENTS, powerful PEOPLE, and influential PLACES.  If you want to know every name, date, and detail, we’ll give them to you!  But our Courses are planned around Big Ideas and are intended to give you new ways to think about Rome, and about art, history, and culture.

City Courses allow you to zoom in on the aspects of Rome that interest you the most - from ancient intrigues in the Roman Forum to the special effects of the Baroque era.

By the time your City Course is over, you'll have a whole new set of tools that will help you understand Rome better.

Which City Courses Should You Take?

Our City Courses are divided into three curriculums - Core, Electives, and Labs.  Core Courses provide overviews and introductions.  Electives allow you to study topics in more depth.  And Labs are courses that engage all your senses as you explore a specific topic or engage in a "hands-on" activity.

The profoundest satisfaction in travel is a sense of discovery, the private thrill of seeing something new or seeing it in a new way.
